Slave's Dream
I want to plant
A magnolia
I need to see the strange fruit
Let me puncture
So I can see the nectar juices flow
Pause as I quote
The old and new testiments
I am African by descent
I am negro
My strength multiplies when educated
So they stump my seeds
Decimate my home
Hang me from branches
Saying the authority is devine
Soothe their easy days labor
By picking at my veins
Plundering my moon
Destroying my star
Creating a hatred embedded in grain
Hearding like cattle at auction
Bred like dogs for pedigree
Torturing my soul with each breathe
Force fed their religion
Purging my spirituality
Cripple mines
Torn hearts
Disembodied my brother
Sodomized my sister
Displaced my youth
So when I see peace
Many will bleed my freedom
Mutilation is vindication
I will plant...
My magnolia
My people will see
The strange fruit that hangs upon it
See me puncture the skin
Feeling the wind blow it's nectar upon our faces
Pause as I quote from
The old and new testament....
The first will be last...
And thank the creator...
The last is first...
