Come Back Home
When they suggested I come back home...
My response let them puzzle
My emotions was amazed
What I spoke
Was truth..
But it left the listeners in a daze
Home is what I know...
Even when I personal felt unsafe...
Coming back gave me the security
Of peace
I could lose myself
In the imagery of a younger self
Rejuvenate my senses
On lost pleasures
Identifying key objects
That were pinnacle in my becoming
The origin of a story
That has yet to conclude
Although I weep
At the beds of the silent
Where trails of a beaten path existed
Now are tall grasses to remind me
Those time can't be replicated
I cry and laugh
Without even moving a single step
But my God how far have I come
See...
Home is where I played basketball
From sun up
To sun down
Home is where the yellow cav
Picked me up
And dropped me off
Home is more than
Where I slept
Where I ate
Home is the place
That gave me the tools
To become that person I am today
No to long ago going back
Brought back..
Alot of hurt and disappointments
In my moments of lost
Home has given me the vision
To keep on, keeping on
Home is Fairfield
That's where my heart is soul remain
Shady Grove is the teacher
That provided the experiences for a boy
To become a man
That small brick home...
Will forever be more than a home
It was God's gift to me...
Because in that small brick home
Live two special people that God picked
To love me...
That's where I'll always return...
When I come back home...
