By These Means

Within these lines,
Love still breathes
As infectious as your favorite melody
Yet instead of music
It's the emotions of me
Expressed by means of poetry

I fell in love with the woman,
By adoring her laughter
Over looking her withheld
Embracing the sensuality
Accepting the incompatibility
Fighting for the future
Instead of embracing the moment
With every kiss of her lips
Contractions pushed forth purpose
That gave life its defining gesture
Love

To have love, given not felt
Overflowing in a raging sea of denial
The sands have cast a perfect replica
Known to ignore what stands in defiance
Gingerly I succumb to doubts of
Who else, even though I shout I deserve
Truth is, as many illustrations that I conjure
Love has not once been inclusive
