My Pride
Some would label me a myth,
Knowing I exist
But rarely seen
The only words heard
That I've spoken
Seems like legend
Because those that repeat
Often begin with "They Say"
I stay on the porch
Because I'm the gatekeeper
To my home
I watch from a distance
Catching wind through the breeze
Only time I rise is when too close to home
It okay to ask about me...
Just understand my life isn't about me
I walk independent
Knowing that under my wings
Are those that are dependent
My status is that of a man
With the burdens being hoisted like a man
Enduring that slashing like a man
If am too silent for comfort
If I seem distant
I'm attempting to astound
Evolved beyond expectation
I'm focused on protecting
My pride
